The event took place at the future site of the Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center, a state-of-the-art $125 million complex. The festivities, which included lively dancing, vibrant music, and children's face painting, were well-documented by the media.

Barbara Bullard, President of the Shirley Chisholm Cultural Institute (SCCI), delivered the closing remarks, highlighting the importance of the project. Spearheaded by Council Member Farah N. Louis and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the recreation center is set to open its doors in 2025, bringing a lasting legacy to the community.
