NYC Council Declares November 30th ‘Shirley Chisholm Day’

The New York City Council passed the bill, Resolution 280, officially designating November 30th as Shirley Chisholm Day in New York City. This momentous achievement ensures we honor the incredible legacy of a trailblazer who shattered barriers and inspired generations to dream bigger and fight harder for justice and equity. As part of the celebration, the Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus (BLAC) and the Women’s Caucus joined the New York City Council presenting a proclamation to the Shirley Chisholm Cultural Institute for their efforts to preserve and share her legacy - inspiring future generations of leaders—especially young women of color—to break down barriers and forge their paths in advocacy, politics, and beyond.
